North Peninsula Mandarin School is proud to introduce its very first Chinese Diabolo class this school year. Diabolo can also be called "Chinese Yo-Yo" or "chě líng (扯鈴)" in Chinese, which literally means "pull bell sound." Both Western Yo-Yo and Chinese Yo-Yo maintain their spinning motion through a rotating effect based on the conservation of angular momentum.
We limit the class size to 12 students, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure your spot. Siblings of current students in Grades 3-6 of regular schools are also welcome to join. If your family member is interested in attending, please write their relationship to the student and name in the registration form.

Time & Date:
12:00 pm -12:55 pm
Total 5 sessions: 10/25, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22, and 12/6
Location: Hillsdale High School Courtyard
Tuition: $125 (wooden sticks and strings included)
*Please register according to your child's current grade in their day school, rather than their NPMS grade.
**Please note that NPMS reserves the right to cancel the class if enrollment is insufficient. We accept students on a first-come, first-served basis, as the class size is capped at 12 students.
Stanley Hsu, a 9th grader at NPMS and a high school freshman, has spent four summers studying Chinese Diabolo and has performed on the Peninsula.
Every student needs to purchase their own Triple-Bearing Chinese Diabolo. Diabolos with fixed bearings are for tricks requiring slow motions and not suitable for beginners. The preferred model, Sundia Diabolo, has much better balance and is easier to maneuver.
The diabolo class will provide each student with wooden sticks and strings. We will measure them based on the students' height at the first class on September 25th. Please bring your own wooden sticks if you have them.
Registration Deadline - Oct 22nd, 2025
We accept students in order of registration. You will receive an email for tuition payment if space is available.
